Tata’s affordable EV was the people’s choice as EV of the Year ahead of more expensive luxury EVs from Europe.
It was the home grown product that appealed to the masses with the Tata Tigor EV leading the vote count for the Viewer’s Choice EV of the Year. Tata’s most affordable EV rubbed shoulders with luxury EVs from European manufacturers with rivals for the awards including the new Porsche Taycan, Audi e-tron and e-tron GT, and the Jaguar I-Pace.
While it was on sale for some years now, the Tigor EV received a major updated in 2021 updating styling in line with the Tigor facelift and replacing the old 72V electric powertrain with the more powerful Ziptron EV powertrain technology. Tata claims the EV will sprint 0-60 kmph in 5.7 seconds. The new battery pack gives the EV a claimed range of 306km.
The Tigor EV supports both regular AC and DC fast charging with the latter allowing you to charge from 0 to 80 percent in about 65 minutes. The AC home charger meanwhile takes about 8.5 hours for the same.
